In market analysis, IDC found that Apple smartphones remained largely unchanged at approximately 37 million shipments, while leading smartphone provider Samsung Electronics, whose production fell from just under 72 million to approximately 58 million of shipments in the first quarter.
The global market is seriously affected, but in China it is not far behind, as smartphone sales in that country decreased by 22 per cent in the first quarter in a scenario where only the giant Huawei breaks the trend. This is the largest annual decline in the first quarter of the year, according to research firm Counterpoint.
Huawei, headquartered in the modern Shenzhen metropolis, which connects Hong Kong to mainland China, was the only major smartphone provider to achieve positive growth, seeing sales of its Smartphones grow by 6% year-on-year when analyzing this first quarter of 2020, compared to the same period last year according to Counterpoint data.
